NATIONAL CURRENT AFFAIRS GK NEWS
PM NARENDRA MODI VISITED TAMILNADU
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tamil Nadu from July 26 to 27, 2025, focusing on infrastructure growth, cultural pride, and regional development.
He inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹4,800 crore during his visit to Thoothukudi.
PM Modi inaugurated a new terminal building at Tuticorin Airport, which was built at a cost of ₹450 crore and also opened two new highway projects.
He also laid the foundation stone for an Inter-State Transmission System linked to the Kundankulum Nuclear Power Plant, costing ₹550 crore.
The Prime Minister joined in the closing ceremony of the Aadi Thiruvathirai Festival. It was held at the Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple in Ariyalur district.
He released a special ₹1,000 coin commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of Emperor Rajendra Chola-I’s historic naval expedition.
GYAN BHARATAM MISSION 2025 BY PM
In July 2025, during the 124th episode of ‘Mann ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Gyan Bharatam Mission’.
The mission aims to digitise over one crore ancient manuscripts preserved in institutions, libraries, museums, and private collections across India.
The Gyan Bharatam Mission is a Central Sector Scheme running from 2024 to 2031, with a budget of Rs. 482.85 crore.
It focuses on surveying, documenting, conserving, and promoting India’s manuscript heritage. The government increased funds for this initiative from ₹3.5 crore to ₹60 crore in 2025-26 Budget.
After the manuscripts are saved and digitised they will be put in a digital library called the National Digital Repository to accessible globally.
EXERCISE BOLD KURUKSHETRA 2025
The 14th India-Singapore army exercise started on July 2, 2025, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. It will go on till August 4, 2025.
The Indian team is led by Colonel Arjun Ganapathi. The Singapore team is led by Lieutenant Colonel Khiew Zhi Yoong.
Exercise Bold Kurukshetra began in 2005. It is part of an agreement signed by India and Singapore in 2003.
The goal is to improve army teamwork and planning. It also helps in command, control, and war practice for both nations.
The 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment and Indian Army’s Mechanised Infantry Regiment are taking part in the joint exercise.
INDIA’S FIRST PRIVATE DHW FACILITY
On July 26, 2025, TEMA India Limited launched India’s first private test facility for upgrading Depleted Heavy Water in Vapi, Gujarat.
This facility aims to improve the quality of Depleted Heavy Water used in nuclear reactors, improving efficiency and boosting energy security.
The facility was jointly inaugurated by Rajesh V, Director-Technical of NPCIL, and K.T. Shenoy, Director of BARC.
It was designed and constructed by TEMA India’s nuclear division, using technology transferred from BARC and backed by a purchase order from NPCIL.
During the event, the first validated consignment of eight Distillation Column Sections, containing activated phosphor bronze modules, was unveiled.
These modules will be used in important nuclear projects like RAPP Unit 8, GHAVP Units 1–4, and KAIGA Units 5 & 6.
NALSA’S VEER PARIVAAR SAHAYATA SCHEME
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), along with the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, and the J&K Legal Services Authority, launched the Veer Parivaar Sahayata 2025.
This scheme is aimed at providing free legal help to defence personnel and their families, especially in remote and conflict-affected regions like J&K and the North East.
The scheme offers free legal aid for issues like family disputes, land matters, and property-related cases.
It will benefit armed forces who often face legal delays due to being posted in difficult areas.
Legal clinics to be opened at Sainik Boards, and appointing trained legal staff.
E-Lok Adalats for online mediation to make legal support quicker, simpler, and more accessible for defence families.
DIRECT DRIVE ELECTRONIC INTERLOCKING SYSTEM
Indian Railways successfully completed pilot testing of the new Direct Drive Electronic Interlocking system at Dinanagar station in Jammu & Kashmir and Tajpur station in Madhya Pradesh in July 2025.
The DDEI system is a modern signalling solution designed to improve rail safety and reduce accidents caused by human errors and faulty signals.
The system eliminates human involvement by using optical fibre technology and automatic interlocking. It also cuts usage of copper cable and lowers the risk of lightning damage.

PRIME MINISTER MODI’S MALDIVES TOUR
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Maldives from July 25 to 26, 2025. He went there to attend Maldives’ 60th Independence Day.
This also marked 60 years of India-Maldives friendship.He was welcomed by President Mohammed Muizzu at the airport.
On July 26, PM Modi attended the Independence Day celebrations in Male. He was the “Guest of Honour”. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to attend this event.
On July 25, PM Modi and the President released a special postage stamp. The stamp showed two traditional boats India’s Uru and Maldives’ Vadhu Dhoni.
During the visit, PM Modi and President Muizzu opened the Dhoshimeyna Building. This building is for Maldives’ Defence Ministry and was built with India’s help.
India gave 72 vehicles to the Maldives Defence Force. India also gave 2 BHISHM Health Cubes and 3,300 housing flats to Maldives. They gave ” Haiykolhu” as the symbol of respect and hospitality to him.
TURKEY INTRODUCE GAZAP AND NEB 2 BOMB
In July 2025, Turkey showed two powerful bombs at IDEF 2025 in Istanbul. These are the GAZAP bomb and the NEB-2 Ghost bunker-buster.
They were made by Turkey’s Defence Ministry. Each bomb weighs 970 kg. The GAZAP bomb has a special warhead.
It spreads 10,000 pieces in a 1 km area when it explodes. It is used by F-16 and F-4 fighter jets. The NEB-2 can break very strong concrete.
It can go 7 metres deep into hard concrete. In a test, it went 90 metres underground.It exploded after 240 milliseconds to make more damage.

PIRATULA WOLF SPIDER DISCOVERED IN WB
In July 2025, scientists from the Zoological Survey of India discovered Piratula acuminata, India’s first known Piratula wolf spider.
The spider was found on Sagar Island in the Sundarbans Delta, West Bengal, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is 8–10 mm in size, with a pale creamy-white body, brown chalk-white spots on the abdomen, and light-brown stripes near the back.
Piratula acuminata belongs to the Lycosidae family and is the first record of the Piratula genus in India. The discovery was published in the scientific journal Zootaxa on July 7, 2025.
TWO NEW FROG SPECIES FOUND IN INDIA
Two new frog species, Raorchestes jakoid and Raorchestes jadoh, were documented in Meghalaya by researchers Warjri and Madhurima Das from Assam Don Bosco University.
Raorchestes jakoid was found at Lawbah in East Khasi Hills at 815 meters altitude, while Raorchestes jadoh was found near Langtor in West Khasi Hills at about 1,655 meters.
Both frogs belong to the Raorchestes parvulus species complex and were described in the Journal of Threatened Taxa in July 2025.
The frogs were named using Khasi language terms ‘Jadoh’ refers to a local rice and meat dish, and ‘Jakoid’ means “frog.”
These species are direct-developing to a frog no tadpole stage and live in shrubs and trees near human settlements.
SPORTS NEWS CURRENT AFFAIRS
OSCAR PIASTRI WON BELGIAN GRAND PRIX
Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Belgian Grand Prix on July 27. He races for the UK-based team McLaren. The race took place at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium.
It was the 70th edition of the Belgian Grand Prix.This marked Piastri’s sixth win in 13 races this season. He now leads the F1 championship by 16 points.
His teammate Lando Norris finished second. Norris had started strong but lost the lead early. He made a strong chase to secure second place.
Charles Leclerc finished third for Ferrari. McLaren achieved their sixth one-two finish of the season. It was also their third one-two in a row.
Max Verstappen came fourth for Red Bull. This was Red Bull’s first race after Christian Horner’s dismissal.
Lewis Hamilton started 18th and finished seventh. The race had mixed wet and dry weather conditions.
100 YEARS OF INDIA HOCKEY FEDERATION
Hockey India marked 100 years of the India Hockey Federation in July 2025 and celebrated the 15th Hockey India Congress in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.
IHF was founded on November 7, 1925, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and governed Indian hockey until it was suspended in 2008 due to governance issues.
Hockey India was formed on May 20, 2009, to replace IHF and unify men’s and women’s hockey.
Hockey India announced a grand centenary celebration for November 7, 2025 and this event will feature 1,000 matches across all districts of India.
Each district will host one men’s and one women’s match and a total of over 36,000 players will participate.
