1. The Maritime Financing Summit 2025
The Maritime Financing Summit 2025 was successfully organized in July 2025 by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways in New Delhi. It is aligned with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision to make India a top global maritime hub till 2047.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the container handling capacity of many ports has increased over 70%. The ship turnaround time has decreased from 4 days to less than 1 day in some major Indian ports.
The Indian government allowed 100% foreign direct investment in the shipping sector under the Automatic Route. The government also announced the Maritime Development Fund to boost investment in maritime infrastructure.
Financial Digital Maturity Matrix was launched by the government to assess and improve digital financial capabilities.
2. Murmu Completed 3 Years as Indian President
President Draupadi Murmu completed 3 years as the 15th President of India on 25 July. She became the first tribal and second woman president of India on 25 July 2022.
On this occasion, she launched some initiatives focusing on accessibility, sustainability, and public engagement. Rashtrapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan, and Museum are now fully accessible to persons with disabilities.
The official websites of Rashtrapati Bhavan made available in 22 Indian languages. She launched E-Upahaar Season 2 to auction over 250 gifts received by the presidents.
An e-book containing summarized presidential speeches, engagements, and initiatives of the past year was released.
3. India’s First Hydrogen Train Couch Test
Indian Railways had successfully tested the first hydrogen powered train coach at ICF Chennai. This Driving Power Car is part of a 1,200 HP hydrogen-powered train project under Indian Railways.
It will have 10 coaches, 2 hydrogen-powered cars at both ends and 8 passenger coaches in the middle. The train runs on hydrogen fuel cell technology, emitting only water vapor and heat.
The Indian railways plan to deploy 35 hydrogen trains on heritage and hilly routes. Estimated cost per hydrogen train is ₹80 crore, with ₹70 crore needed per route for infrastructure.
A trail project worth ₹111.83 crore is retrofitting a DEMU with hydrogen tech for the Jind-Sonipat section.
4. 166th Income Tax Day Celebration
Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presided over the 166th Income Tax Day celebrations on 24 July 2025. The event was organized by the Central Board of Direct Taxes under the Ministry of Finance in New Delhi.
A new mascot Madhukar was launched for the Income Tax Department during the 166th Income Tax Day celebration. MoS Pankaj Chaudhary, Revenue Secretary Arvind Shrivastava, and CBDT Chairman Ravi Agrawal are the key attendees of the event.
The Certificates of meritorious, excellent, and exceptional service were awarded to Income Tax Department officials. The Winners of the India Mascot Design Competition were also announced during the celebration via myGov portal.
5. MoD–BEL Contract for Air Defence Radars
The Ministry of Defence signed a ₹2,000 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited for Air Defence Fire Control Radars. The contract was signed on 25 July in New Delhi in the presence of MoD Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The contract falls under the Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured category of Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The radars have over 70% indigenous parts and can detect fighter jets, helicopters, and drones, delivering real-time targeting data.
The contract supports Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, who supply components and raw material for manufacturing.
6. India Established COP-33 Cell to Host UN Climate Summit
The COP-33 cell was established by the ministry of environment, forest and climate change in July 2025. It’s to manage the professional and logistical requirements for hosting COP-33 in 2028.
Joint Secretary Ved Prakash Mishra heading the COP-33 Cell under the Climate Change Division of MoEFCC. There are 11 members in the COP-33 cell, including directors, consultants, and support staff.
India last hosted a UN Climate Conference before COP-33 during COP-8 in New Delhi in 2002. During COP-28 in Dubai, PM Narendra Modi first proposed India’s bid to host COP-33.
7. Indian Army conducted the Exercise Drone Prahaar
Indian Army conducted the Exercise Drone Prahaar on 25th July 2025 Near the Myanmar border. It was observed by Lieutenant General Abhijeet S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding, Spear Corps.
The main objective of Exercise Drone Prahaar is to test and validate the integration of drone technologies into frontline operations. Airspace deconfliction protocols and Secure communication networks are tested during the Exercise.
It’s to ensure operational agility, technological superiority, and readiness for modern security threats.

8. Prime Minister Modi Visited To Uk
Prime minister Narendra Modi visited the UK during 23 July to 24 July in 2025 as the part of two nations tour at the invitation of UK PM Keir Starmer.
Catherine West (UK Foreign Office Minister), Vikram Doraiswami (Indian High Commissioner to UK), and Lindy Cameron (British High Commissioner to India), welcomed PM Modi upon his arrival at London Airport.
The India UK Vision 2035 was launched during the PM Modi’s bilateral meeting with UK PM Keir Starmer.
PM Modi met King Charles III and presented a sapling of the Sonoma dove tree under the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ initiative at Sandringham Estate.
PM Modi’s 2 Days Maldives Tour
India and Maldives signed 6 MoUs during PM Modi’s two-day visit to Maldives in July 25–26, 2025.
India extended a Line of Credit worth ₹4,850 crore to support infrastructure development in Maldives.
The MoUs covered fisheries & aquaculture, meteorology, digital public infrastructure, healthcare, and UPI payments.
Both countries agreed to promote sustainable fisheries and collaborate on meteorology research and weather services.
India will help implement UPI in Maldives, share digital solutions, and start Free Trade Agreement negotiations to boost trade.

RBI Approved Xflow Operate as Payment Aggregator
Xflow received In-Principle Authorization from the Reserve Bank of India to operate as a Payment Aggregator for Cross-Border transactions.
The approval covers both export and import flows, allowing Xflow to facilitate international payments for businesses.
With the new license, Xflow plans to expand its services from 10,000 to 30,000 businesses by the end of 2025.
Xflow launched FX AI Analyst, India’s first AI-powered tool for forex insights, to help businesses manage currency risks and optimize conversions.
Other approved companies include Adyen India, Amazon Pay, Cashfree Payments, BillDesk, Pay10 Services, and Worldline ePayments.

BEML and HSL Signed a MoU
Bharat Earth Movers Limited and Hindustan Shipyard Limited signed the MoU in July 2025.
Purpose of co-develop next-gen marine systems like low-bed transport platforms, dredging equipment, high-capacity cranes, and heavy load transporters for marine infrastructure and shipyard logistics.
BEML will lead the design and development using its platform engineering and structural optimization.
HSL will promote indigenization and support manufacturing using BEML’s production strengths.

Dr. V. Narayanan, Honoured with GP Birla Memorial Award
Dr. V. Narayanan, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Secretary of the Department of Space, has been honoured with the GP Birla Memorial Award 2025.
The award was presented on July 25, 2025, during a felicitation ceremony held in Hyderabad, Telangana. It was handed over by Nirmala Birla, Chairperson of the GP Birla Archaeological, Astronomical and Scientific Institute.
The Award recognises outstanding achievements in fields like science, education, culture, and public service. It was established by the GP Birla Archaeological, Astronomical and Scientific Institute based in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The award has been presented to 32 Nobel Laureates and other notable personalities, including Dr. Venkataraman Ramakrishnan, Prof. Jogesh Pati, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and Dr. K. Kasturirangan.
APPOINTMENT & RESIGNATION CURRENT AFFAIRS NEWS
Anuradha Thakur Appointed as a Director on the Central Board of RBI
Anuradha Thakur, the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as a Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India.
Her appointment is effective from 24 July 2025 and will continue until further orders.
She is a 1994-batch IAS officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre and became the first woman to serve as DEA Secretary on 1 July 2025, succeeding Ajay Seth.
M. Nagaraju, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services, is the other government nominee for the director on the RBI Board.
