STATE NEWS

1. Bengaluru jumped from 125th rank to 36th

Bengaluru is now 36th cleanest city in India jumping from 125th rank last year, as per the swachh Survekshan 2024-25. But still faces problems with public toilet cleanliness and landfill remediation. Mysuru entered the Super swachh League in the 3–10 lakh category, for its cleanliness, community participation, and sanitation excellence.

2. Vidarbha’s first integrated steel plant

On July 22, 2025, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis laid the foundation stone for Vidarbha’s first integrated steel plant, in Gadchiroli. This plant has a capacity of 4.5 million tonnes per annum. He also inaugurated a 5 MnTPA iron‑ore grinding plant at Hedri and the state’s first-ever 10 MnTPA slurry pipeline connecting Hedri to Konsari, which is built in just 180 days.

3. HSBC withdraw from Net Zero Banking Alliance

HSBC officially withdrew from the Net‑Zero Banking Alliance on July 11, 2025, and becoming the first major UK bank to do so. This group was made to help banks to fight climate changes and reduce pollution.

4. First Tesla showroom in India opened

Tesla opened its first Indian showroom at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, on July 15. Tesla offered its two imported variants of Tesla Model Y: Rear‑Wheel Drive starting at ₹59.89 lakh, and Long‑Range AWD at around ₹67.89 lakh. The company will also install Superchargers in Mumbai and around New Delhi, and begin accepting online and showroom orders in the third quarter of 2025.

5. Vimananu joined CYGR to build drone

Vimananu Ltd has joined with CYGR to build a drone manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai under the Make in India initiative. They will produce advanced drones such as hand‑launched fixed‑wing drones, nano drones, and ISR drones for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.

6. Vijayawada in Super Swachh League

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation was selected for the Super Swachh League under Swachh Survekshan 2024, in the category of more than 10 lakh population, joining elite cities like Indore, Surat, and Navi Mumbai. Even after the severe Budameru floods in early September 2024, which caused heavy damage, the city swiftly managed flood-related waste and sanitation.

7. 4 Indians win medals in international Olympiad

Devesh Pankaj Bhaiya from Jalgaon, Maharashtra and Sandeep Kuchi from Hyderabad, Telangana had won two gold medals and Debadatta  Priyadarshi from Bhubaneswar, Odisha and Ujjwal Kesari from New Delhi won two silver medals in the International Chemistry Olympiad 2025 held in Dubai from July 5 to 14. tally and India secured a joint sixth place among 90 participating countries in its 26th appearance at the Olympiad.

8. INCOIS won National Geospatial Practitioner Award

Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) won the National Geospatial Practitioner Award 2025 at IIT Bombay for using open-source GIS tools to improve ocean data systems in India. They use technologies like QGIS and GeoServer to give accurate marine forecasts, fishing zone updates, and tsunami alerts, helping fishermen, coastal communities, and disaster managers.

9. Kerala’s State Kathakali Award

Kerala’s Department of Cultural Affairs presented the State Kathakali Awards, Pallavur Appu Marar Vadya Puraskaram, and Keraleeya Nritta‑Natya Puraskaram at a ceremony in 2025. The Pallavur Appu Marar Vadya Puraskaram was awarded to Mattannur Sankarankutty Marar for chenda drumming. Kuroor Vasudevan Namboothiri, Sankara Warrier, and Girijadevi, received honours for their mastery in Kathakali, Mad­da­lam, and Koodiyattam.


DEFENCE NEWS

10. Successful testing of Prithvi and Agni

India successfully test-fired two important missiles Prithvi-II and Agni-I from the Chandipur testing range in Odisha on July 17, 2025. These missiles are made by DRDO, and can carry nuclear warheads. Prithvi-II has a range of about 350 km, and Agni-I can go up to 900 km.

11. Indian Navy in SIMBEX 2025

The Indian Navy had sent INS Delhi, INS Satpura, INS Shakti, and INS Kiltan to Singapore to take part in SIMBEX 2025, which is a special naval exercise held every year between India and Singapore to improve friendship and teamwork at sea. This exercise supports India’s Act East Policy and Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).


SPORTS NEWS

12. Bihar won the National Rugby 7s championship

Bihar’s U18 Boys’ team won the final of 10th Junior National Rugby 7s Championship 2025, by defeating Odisha 17–15 points, and this victory came just after winning the U18 Girls’ title, by the Bihar girl team. Goldan Kumar and Sunny Kumar of Bihar boys team played major roles in the whole tournament.


OBITUARY NEWS

13. Famous skydiver died in a paragliding crash

Felix Baumgartner, the world-famous skydiver who jumped from the stratosphere in 2012 and became the first person to break the sound barrier in free fall, sadly died at age 56 in a paragliding crash in Italy on 17th July 2025. He crashed his motorized paraglider beside a hotel swimming pool in Porto Sant’Elpidio, Italy.
